BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION: The Department of Marine Resources (DMR) is seeking applicants with strong database experience and effective communication skills to fill a Marine Resource Scientist I position in the Biological Monitoring & Assessment Division/Bureau of Marine Science located at the West Boothbay Harbor laboratory. This position will be responsible for helping with the daily logistics and operations of the 100% Lobster Reporting program. The primary responsibilities will be: Contact harvesters with new reporting requirements Train harvesters with mandatory reporting requirements on how to report using electronic reporting options Reject and correct incomplete reports and assist with report writing Assist with landings data analysis Complete data audits This position will also be responsible for outreach with licensed harvesters and will help enforce mandatory reporting requirements. This position will help monitor the elver and sea urchin swipe card program and in-season quota checks. The position will be a primary contact for harvesters wishing to use the VESL harvester reporting application and Maine LEEDS ( L icensing E nforcement and E nvironmental D ata S ystem) to submit their mandatory reports. Travel throughout the Maine coastal area is required. Additionally, this position may work collaboratively with other programs in the Bureau of Marine Science to aid other projects as needed. There will be some remote work opportunities for this position with Management approval and following DMR Telework policy. DeCosta, at: [email protected] MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Entry level education, training, or experience in a scientific, technical, or engineering discipline with demonstrated experience in the field of marine resource research and management or another related field.
